At Mangalore Institute of Oncology (M.I.O), our commitment to a "Cancer-Free India" starts in the classroom. Recently, our team had the privilege of visiting one of Mangalore's most iconic educational landmarks B.E.M. School at Car Street. In the heart of the city's cultural hub, we brought together the wisdom of the past with the health visions of the future through our 'HEALTHY HERO' program.
The Vision: Creating a Health-Conscious Generation
Conceptualized by our Director, Dr. D Suresh Rao, the 'Healthy Hero' program is designed to transform children into active participants in their own well-being. By engaging students in Kannada medium and government-aided schools like B.E.M., we ensure that vital health information reaches the very heart of our community.
Highlights: More Than Just a Lesson
The halls of B.E.M. School were buzzing with energy as students participated in our 'Be Your Own Health Hero' modules. We believe that health shouldn't be scary; it should be empowering.
- Interactive Role-Plays: Staff of M.I.O stepped onto the stage to act out scenarios about nutrition, physical activity, and avoiding harmful substances. These role-plays help children visualize healthy choices in real-life situations.
- The Power of the Pledge: Every student stood tall to take the 'Healthy Hero Pledge,' promising to look after their bodies and spread awareness to their parents and neighbors.
