M.I.O. Takes the Battle Against Cancer to Ranebennur's Streets: A Rally Powered by Drums, Data, and Community

Breaking the Silence Around Cancer

In a vibrant and high-energy initiative to combat the rising incidence of cancer, Mangalore Institute of Oncology (M.I.O) in association with Sanjeevini Cancer Seva Trust (R.) organized a grand Cancer Awareness Rally in the heart of Ranebennur. The event aimed to break the silence surrounding the disease and educate the local community on the life-saving importance of early detection.

A Powerful Start: The Drums of Awareness

The program commenced at the Ganga Sahakari Bank Hall, where a distinguished group of local leaders and healthcare advocates gathered to launch the movement. In an unique and symbolic gesture, the guests inaugurated the rally by beating traditional drums. This act signified that the "sound of awareness" must reach every ear in the community, waking people up to the reality of cancer prevention.

Taking the Message to the Streets

Following the inauguration, the rally poured into the busy roads of Ranebennur. Staff members and volunteers marched with placards, distributing educational pamphlets detailing the early warning signs of cancer. By engaging directly with locals in the market places and residential areas, the rally transformed a clinical topic into a community conversation.

Expert Guidance: Early Diagnosis & Support

The rally concluded with an insightful session led by Smt. Jestalaxmi Bolloor, Psychologist and Cancer Awareness Program Coordinator at M.I.O. She addressed the gathering on critical topics, including:

  • The "Two-Week" Rule: Why persistent symptoms like lumps or ulcers need immediate attention.
  • Precautions & Lifestyle: How diet and habit changes can lower cancer risks.
  • The Role of Support: How to care for and encourage those already undergoing treatment.

Influencing the Influencers

In a strategic move to ensure the message spreads long after the rally, the M.I.O team conducted a Survey Form session for the guests. By filling out these forms, the bank directors and local leaders were empowered with the right data and knowledge to guide hundreds of people who visit their institutions daily.

Awareness Is Our Strongest Shield

As a leading cancer care hospital, M.I.O remains dedicated to proactive outreach. Through events like the Ranebennur rally, we continue to prove that while cancer is a tough battle, awareness is our strongest shield.
